Rated 4 out of 5 by from Want to buy but the straps concern me I bought the "Rosedale" purse few years ago. I love it, however the studs on the strap keep unscrewing, and I have lost one of the two. I've enquired in stores if they have spare metal studs but none do. I see that this purse, which i want to buy, has the same strap design and for the price of the bag I don't want a repeat problem. Also, this strap style would not be good for travel. It would take little effort for someone to yank the purse away and have the strap fall apart. A shame, because both purse designs are lovely.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad design of straps I would not recommend the purse how the straps are currently designed. I bought a previous version of this saddle bag in 2009 and I loved it. I had it for years and years until finally the insides were ripping and it was time to replace it. When I went to the store the choice was between this model and another version where the front pocket looked like it was the strap closure of a saddle bag, so I picked this version. I wish I had looked at the straps first otherwise I would have picked the other version. The straps are not secure and are constantly coming undone with only two metal knobs to hold them together, even with putting the leather ring over them. The previous versions straps were way better. I do love the purse itself, it has the space that I need for phone, wallet, sunglasses, keys, etc. If they would get rid of the straps how they are currently designed and make them more secure so the two straps don’t come apart I would definitely buy this purse again.

I agreed with everything stated in the other reviews; then I was walking in the city with hands full, and the tabs that secure the strap pulled away and my bag dropped off my body. I've had it for less than a month. I needed to tie the straps in a knot and head to my meeting. The bag itself has a bit of heft. I don't pack it. It carried my classes, a slim wallet, and a small notebook. That was it. The bag's quality is great, but I need to function first. I love that the branding is on the back of the bag. I'm hoping to exchange it for a different product instead of sending it in to repair. I don't see where this won't happen again. I'm still a Roots bag fan, and I want to recommend this bag, but I cannot. I gave it 1 star. If the strap had stayed intact, it would have been 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Très joli, grosseur parfaite! J'ai acheté ce sac il y a 6 mois environ et je l'adore ! Avec le temps, le cuir reste très beau. Le cuir devient plus souple. Elle est confortable a portée avec sa sangle. Je l'adore! Le coût est justifié.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bag! This bag is a classic example of Roots excellence. I own three of them in different colors and they are my basic every day go-to bag. There are three interior pockets, one of which is larger and has a zipper so it can hold items separately from the main compartment. The small zippered pocket on back of the bag is perfect as a quick draw for Metro or transit passes without having to open the whole purse. The leather is soft, thick, and luxurious. The lining is a silky material that is sturdy and doesn't get holes or thin places after a few years of use. The strap is substantial so it stays put after slinging it over your body. The silhouette looks fairly flat in the photos, but I have loaded mine up with larger items with no problem. And the best part is that it just looks better and better the older it gets!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Quality Roots leather is of exceptional quality, purses are well made, good lining, nice hardware & zippers. The riverside saddle purse is very funtional, with several zippered compartments (on the outside & inside) without being an overly large bag. I bought this in black cervino leather. Roots leather is quite expensive so I plan to use this purse for a long time, purchased online -took advantage of black Friday sale.

There are lots of compartments where I can put things for easy retrieval—my work phone, personal phone, work ID and keycard, glasses, sunglasses, keys, wallet, etc. I bought the brown leather version and loved it so much that I later bought the black leather version when Roots was having a sale.
