Where are Made in Canada products manufactured?
Our leather goods - bags and accessories - are handcrafted at our Toronto Leather Factory, which has been operating since 1973. This factory is the heart of our leather-making legacy - skilled craftspeople have been perfecting their work there for over 50 years. Our apparel pieces are sewn at Canadian facilities, ensuring quality control and supporting our communities across Canada.

What materials are in the Made in Canada collection?
This collection features the full range of Roots quality materials. Leather goods include our signature Tribe, Prince, Cervino, Cloud and Vegetable Tan leather. Our apparel includes organic cotton fibres, recycled fibres, fleece, wool and nylon. Every material is chosen for durability and performance - we do not compromise on quality just because we are making here instead of offshore.

Is the leather in Made in Canada products genuine?
Yes. We use genuine leather sourced from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group - a not-for-profit organization responsible for the world's leading environmental certification for the leather manufacturing industry. By purchasing this product, you are supporting responsible leather manufacturing. The leather is tanned, cut and hand-finished here in Canada, making each piece a true product of Canadian skill and care. Our Greener Pastures™ leathers, part of LITE Sourcing, are traceable to the farm or ranch and follow the USDA Humane Handling program protocols - a commitment to traceability and sustainability from the source.
Why is Made in Canada more expensive than other Roots products?
Skilled Canadian labour, premium material sourcing and the overhead of operating our Toronto Leather Factory since 1973 mean Made in Canada products cost more. But you are investing in quality that lasts, a product crafted by hand rather than assembly line and the knowledge that your purchase supports Canadian workers and their families.
