Our Italian suede is drummed dyed and has a beautiful soft nap.
Roots first used vegetable tanned leather in 1975. Vegetable tanned leather is an Italian artisan tradition practiced for over 200 years. Using both antique recipes and cutting-edge technology creates the most beautiful and long-lasting leather. Only natural vegetable extracts from chestnuts and Argentinean quebracho trees are used in the tanning process.
Vegetable tanned leather is strong and only gets better and more beautiful with time. It will develop a distinct patina that reflects the owners travel and use of their bag. Over time, Vegetable leather will age or darken. Things like sun exposure water, and conditioning will also contribute to the aging process. This a natural characteristic of Vegetable leather which will make your product one-of-a-kind. The patina development depends on what type of product you have and how you use.
To care for this style in suede and vegetable leather; spot clean with a clean damp cloth and let air dry. Test in inconspicuous area prior to cleaning the entire surface.
Leather Working Group is a not-for-profit organization responsible for the world's leading environmental certification for the leather manufacturing industry. By purchasing this product, you are supporting responsible leather manufacturing through the Leather Working Group.
