Inspired by the shoe that started it all in 1973, the Sport Root is an updated version of our negative heel. Now made with a customizable insole system that can be adapted to your preferred heel height, making it a perfect fit for everyone.
  • Durable rubber outsole for better grip and slip resistance on any surface — wet, muddy or dry
  • Ribbed outsole for comfort and grip — a nod to the original outsole from 1973
  • Shaped to follow the natural foot form for maximum alignment and comfort
  • Strong, durable and waterproof Italian Nappa leather
  • Soft, comfortable and durable leather lining for breathability and moisture absorption
  • Organic cotton laces with a waxed surface to help them stay tied
  • Recycled Cork, EVA and open cell foam molded removeable insoles for a comfortable and secure foot position
  • Padded ankle support keeps foot warm and secure on colder days
  • Negative heel positioning: the heel is positioned slightly below the forefoot, gently stretching the calf muscles and reducing pressure on the foot

Made in Italy, our Nappa leather undergoes a unique tanning process that results in a softer, more pliable material. It is a waterproof, full grain, drum dyed leather that has been milled in a natural aniline finish.

LOOK AFTER ME
  • Application of a waterproofing spray is recommended to avoid stains or water spots
  • Avoid heavy wax, silicone, or oil based products as these will darken and clog the pores of the leather
  • Wipe off any dirt or dust with a damp soft cloth or sponge
  • Avoid the use of firm bristle brushes or scratchy sponges as these will damage the surface of the leather
  • Never soak the leather
  • Remove excess moisture with a dry soft cloth
  • For stains, use Roots Leather Cleaner to clean the leather
  • Follow up with a neutral or colour matched Nappa leather cream conditioner to restore colour and shine
Store in a dry, cool place, out of the sun. Do not wrap in plastic. Allow shoes to dry in between use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice shoes but.. Nice shoes but the sizing runs small. They are pretty tight just under my toes and my toes hit the edge. They are pretty uncomfortable. I wanted to love them and just can’t. So I have these expensive shoes but I can’t really wear them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just as good as 1976! I used to have these shoes as a teenager and so there is a lot of nostalgia for me having these. They are heavier than I remember but still excellent quality. Well made, strong, good support. I haven't used the insoles yet, just wearing them the way they came and so far so good, just breaking them in a bit. Love that they also came with a bag, extra laces and the alternate insoles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shoes but only time will tell This is a nice pair of shoes, however, be warned, they do need to be broken in. The leather is of very good quality and the shoes appear to be well made. These shoes accomodated my orthotics without any issue but to be perfectly frank I am still breaking them in and at times I do experience a bit of discomfort when walking. Lastly, selecting the correct size shoe was a bit of a hassle and your website does not make it easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rediscovered classic I have 'bad' feet including hardware in one foot and metatarsalgia in both. When I saw these 'kicks' were back in I was drawn to them first, because in elementary school long long ago I had a pair - at that time the kid's version was brown leather. I lost mine at summer camp and they were a favourite. I'm a bit old for summer camp now, but with all my foot problems I remembered these were 'reverse' heel and absolutely they fit like a dream and provide great support for troubled feet. plus it's nice to find what I lost in 1977.
