Human Nature

Celebrating the stories and passions of people who inspire us

Since our early beginnings, nature has been an important part of our inspiration. Without it, we wouldn’t be who we are today. To show our appreciation for the world around us, we met up with some friends to see how they’re making a positive impact in their communities and on the earth.

“Something small can often inspire others to make shifts in their lives. Small actions all add up!”

“Both of us grew up spending time outside, which instilled our love of the natural world from a young age. We founded Nada to inspire people to change how they shop for groceries by encouraging our customers to buy only what they need in order to reduce waste. Founding Nada has been a fulfilling experience and we feel lucky to be surrounded by an inspiring community. We don't often see the immediate impact of our actions, but something small can often inspire others to make shifts in their lives. Small actions all add up!”

“If you live on this planet, you have a role to play on it... I encourage everyone to stand up for causes they believe in.”

“I grew up in an outdoorsy family and over time became concerned about how we are treating the planet. In trying to make a difference I started Obabika, as a way to offer creative and strategic services at a subsidized or pro-bono rate to support environmental conservation efforts. If you live on this planet, you have a role to play on it. We all show up in different ways and I encourage everyone to stand up for causes they believe in.”

“We are directly connected to the land; I have been raised with this awareness and want to be a role model for my children.”

“I have a deep respect and love for the beauty of plants and wanted to share my plant-based creations with others. I am very proud of Skwálwen Botanicals and contributing to the renewal of Indigenous plant knowledge. We are directly connected to the land; I have been raised with this awareness and want to be a role model for my children. Since becoming a mother, my feeling of responsibility has come into focus and has helped me understand the importance of doing all I can to leave behind ecosystems for generations to come.”
