My children layer these under ski jackets in the winter, and wear on its own with a zip up in the fall/spring. Lightweight but very warm. Deep pockets for storing rocks, sticks, etc.

We returned it to the store without any problem and she spotted the same vest in a child XLarge on the rack. She tried it on and it fit perfect. We waited for the inevitable sale and made the purchase. Roots is quality wear. She couldn't be happier!
