Teamwork is really the best way to describe how Roots
clothes and accessories are designed. The team is usually working
on designs one year in advance. They travel all over the world to
get new ideas for Roots, to check out new fabrics, and then come
back full of inspiration. The technical designers help with the
specs and then the samples are made from scratch.
Nothing gets produced until Don and Michael
make sure it feels right. They inspect every sample, if they don't
like it, it doesn't get made. Then comes the wear test. Everyone
gets in on the wear test. The designers, the Greens, the Budmans,
Friends, Families and neighbours. Changes are made to pockets or
drawstrings until we have the best product possible. Only then is
it ready for our stores.
