TORONTO - In keeping with the long-time commitment of Roots, Co-Founders Don Green and Michael Budman to environmental concerns, Roots is proud to be a sponsor of the City of Toronto's first annual Environmental Awards of Excellence. The Awards will honour leading companies, organizations and individuals contributing to the greening of our city.
A panel of 35 judges has chosen 24 local individuals and groups as recipients for this honour, also known as The Green Toronto Awards. The program, to which Roots is giving financial support, received 155 nominations.
The judges will choose one winner of a Green Toronto Award in eight different categories. The winners will be announced at a public ceremony at City Hall on May 2. Each of the eight winners of Green Toronto Awards will receive $5,000 to donate to the environmental organization of their choice.
