TORONTO -Roots is heating up the streets of Toronto this summer as the official outfitter of Caribana.  The limited edition, custom-designed Caribana t-shirt is now available in Roots stores across the GTA, with proceeds from the sales in support of the Caribana Committee.

“Roots is very proud to be a leader in the business community with our sponsorship of Caribana,” says Michael Budman, co-founder, Roots.  “The Festival is an important event for Toronto, and the Caribbean culture is something that Don and I hold very near to our hearts, so it makes perfect sense for Roots to be involved with this celebration. So, if you think it’s been hot this summer, you haven’t seen anything yet.  With the official launch of Caribana, North America’s largest Caribbean festival, things are about to get a whole lot steamier.  Presented by the Caribbean Cultural Committee, the two-week Festival, which celebrates its 38th anniversary in 2005, attracts over a million participants annually, including hundreds of thousands of international tourists.

Highlights of the Festival include the annual King & Queen Xtravaganza -- The biggest and brightest costumes compete to be named best of Caribana -- and of course the much anticipated Caribana Parade -- an eight hour, 3.6 kilometer street party that attracts more than one million spectators to Toronto’s Lakeshore Boulevard each year.
