Roots gets behind fundraiser for Waterkeeper Alliance

As an on-going supporter of Robert Kennedy Jr.’s environmental work, Roots was a sponsor of the Waterkeeper Alliance fundraising event in Lake Louise, Alberta. The annual Fairmont Chateau Celebrity Sports Invitational three-day that began on January 13th, attracted prominent figures from the fields of entertainment, business, sports and politics, generating $750,000 (US) for Waterkepers’s fight to protect lakes, rivers and streams worldwide.
Roots Co-Founder Michael Budman, who participated in the events on and off the slopes recently, says it’s only natural that Roots, given its long-standing support of environmental initiatives over the years, helps the Waterkeeper Alliance. One of the highlights of the weekend was a celebrity auction. The prizes included an afternoon of skating at the home of Michael and his wife Diane Bald. It raised $25,000 (US). Proceeds from the weekend will benefit the Waterkeeper Alliance (WA), an umbrella organization for the 115 WA teams that now patrol and protect rivers, bays, lakes and streams throughout North and Central America.
