We’ve re-issued this favourite from our archives. An instant classic that is sure to bring you back to your Roots.
Our favourite logo from the 1990’s, worn by two of Quebec’s emerging artists. RYAN Playground and Black Atlass are the emerging artists from Quebec that are shaping the art and culture of this decade. This is their story, these are their Roots.
Hailing from Montreal and the daughter of two classical musicians, RYAN Playground grew up surrounded by art. Her introspective debut EP, Elle, was released via Secret Songs in 2016 with the standout being a collaboration with label-head Ryan Hemsworth titled “Folders”. She was on the Secret Songs Canadian tour with Hemsworth and Harrison last spring; played the Canadian festival circuit over the summer, and will be making her US debut at SXSW in March.
RYAN has been featured in outlets such as Vogue, Highsnobiety, and FADER and worked with international brands like Perrier, H&M, and Roots. Her debut album will be released later in 2017 through Secret Songs/Last Gang Records.
Black Atlass is the creation of young visionary singer, songwriter and producer Alex Fleming. With a carefully crafted body of work delivered to the world, the prodigious artist has quickly turned from the underground’s best kept secret to a singular voice and vision traveling from dance floors to runways across the globe.
