BLUE AND WHITE WITH STYLE

Maple Leaf hockey apparel in stores now

With the new NHL season now just underway, you don’t have to actually play for the Toronto Maple Leafs to wear their colours in style. Fans of the game, or at least supporters of the Leafs, looking for what to wear on or off the ice need look no further.

Rising to the occasion, Roots has come up with an impressive Toronto Maple Leafs (TML) collection. Senior Designer of Special Projects David Young created the line with Associate Designer Joanne Joseph with assistance from Karen Bryan-Kirkham, Technician of Special Projects and Ling Chow, Product Manager, Special Projects.

Made in Canada, the latest TML line is inspired by the simplicity and classic feel of retro Leaf uniforms. It’s comprised of a variety of tops, outerwear and accessories for men, women, kids and babies. Most T-shirts are made from 100% cotton jersey, while the sweatshirts and jackets are made from a mix of 80% cotton and 20% polyester.

Additionally, the Special Projects team developed a custom-made acrylic argyle sweater knit used for panel details on the Leaf Club Jacket.

Other details include felt appliqués, heat transfer prints and direct embroidery. Though David designed the T-shirt graphics and special fonts, the Maple Leaf insignia is made up of a corporate logo approved by the NHL.

Available only in Ontario, the first delivery is in stores now throughout the province. The second delivery will hit stores in November. Keep checking The Source for an update on the second TML line.
