GREEN TIP # 16
The latest in our series of easy ways to help the environmentPaper Trail: Did you know that if every household in North America replaced just one roll of 180-sheet virgin-fiber paper towels with 100-percent recycled paper towels, we could save nearly 1.5 million trees, 3.7 million cubic feet of landfill space, and 526 million gallons of water, and prevent 89,400 pounds of pollution?
Companies like Seventh Generation make paper towels from 100-percent recycled paper, with a minimum of 90-percent post-consumer materials. You can find Seventh Generation products at Safeway, Whole Foods, and most other grocery stores. Better yet, make do without paper towels. Use dishtowels instead.
